LLDPE Silage Bale Wrap Film manufacturer for fodder grass maize farm

Silage bale wrap film is now commonly used among farmers as a result of its outstanding capability in keeping the quality of the fodder. It is available in several variations, sizes, and layers in which each of them can be applied for a different purpose. Since each of them is different in terms of quality and durability, you need to pay to its specific criteria in choosing the one that fits your need. For example, the requirement for general wrapping might be different for the bale wrapping.

Selecting the Ideal Silage Bale Wrap Film

  1. In choosing the right silage bale wrap film, the first thing that you need to know is to classify your need, whether you need the silage film for wrapping food, greenery, or just general item. If you plan to use the film as food wrapping, you might need a product containing odor resistance; some wrapping films are now specially designed for food wrapping, which is resistant to UV, Moisture, and odor.
  2. In determining a wrapping for the general item, choosing the film that is transparent in color might not be a big problem. However, it will be different if you plan to use it as fodder wrapping; choosing the transparent is not an option because it is not UV resistant, and it might require more layers to work properly as a bale wrapping.
  3. An agricultural silage wrapping needs to meet three requirements; it should be durable that is not easy to break due to extreme weather; it also should be resistant to UV, air, and moisture so the fodder can be fermented perfectly.
  4. Some farmers hold the belief that different types of greenery require distinct silage films. This belief has some truth to it, as varying types of greenery often need different fermentation treatments. Consequently, these differences necessitate considering various applications of silage film. For example, wrapping grasses typically requires only about 3 to 4 layers of silage film. However, if the fodder consists of straw or coarse-stemmed material, it will need at least 4 layers. Moreover, if transporting the fodder frequently, adding an additional two layers becomes necessary.

Choosing the Grade

Remember, when you choose the right silage bale wrap film, you’ve already won half the battle. Most farmers believe that using silage film to cover baled hay guarantees the fodder’s quality and quantity. But how can you determine if one silage film is better than another?

Typically, factories classify their silage films into several grades. The most common type of silage film used for agricultural purposes has a thickness of around 25 micrometers and offers a 50 to 70% stretchability rate.

Is Film Color Important?

Choosing the right color for silage film might seem unimportant, but it actually plays a significant role. Authorities in some regions set regulations for the color of silage film used. However, if you plan to store fodder for a long time, experts recommend using bright-colored silage film. The most popular is white silage film.

The rationale for using bright colors lies in their ability to effectively reflect sunlight, unlike darker colors. A silage film that reflects UV rays well can prevent the fodder from overheating and condensation, which could otherwise degrade its quality.

More crucially, the quality of silage film must protect the fodder from external harm, including weather, animals, and mechanical damage. Farmers often add extra layers to the bale wrap, especially if they need to transport it, to provide this protection.

Even though silage films may look similar, they are not all suitable for every purpose. With the expansion of silage film options by manufacturers, each film now serves a specific function.

Manufacturers often tailor their silage film selections to the weather conditions of the region where they produce the film. You should contact the agricultural authorities in your area to learn about the approved types of silage film. Once you have this information, you can make a more informed choice from the options available to you.
